Reviews / Hibu
Hibu reviews, cost & cancellation policy. What the contract says before you sign.
The short answer
- Hibu reviews: A+ at the BBB and 4.7 on Trustpilot. The BBB also lists 109 complaints in the last 3 years, for a company serving over 70,000 businesses.
- Hibu cost per month: not published. Every plan is custom-priced, plus a $299 non-refundable implementation fee for Hibu One.
- Hibu contract: 6 to 12 month minimums. You can't cancel inside the minimum term, and Hibu One has no refund on cancellation.
- The alternative: Vaultio has no setup fee and no minimum term. $449 a month covers your website, SEO and AI search, daily blog posts and a live dashboard.
Hibu reviews are worth reading closely, because with Hibu the contract matters as much as the marketing. Hibu, formerly Yellowbook, is one of the biggest names in small business marketing in the US.
Full disclosure: I run Vaultio, a competitor. Everything below about Hibu comes from its own pricing page and terms, with links, so you can check it yourself.
Hibu reviews and complaints
Hibu reviews are strong on the big review sites. Trustpilot shows a 4.7 TrustScore from 1,082 reviews (Trustpilot): 82% are 5-star and 15% are 1-star. The BBB rates Hibu Inc A+, accredited since 2021, and lists 109 complaints filed in the last 3 years, 38 of them in the last 12 months (BBB profile).
For scale: Hibu says it serves over 70,000 small businesses. Most reviews are happy ones. The complaints worth reading are about what a contractor signs up for, so that's what the rest of this page covers.
Is Hibu legit?
Hibu is legit: a real, established company headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. An affiliate of private equity firm H.I.G. Capital bought Hibu's US business in 2021, and Hibu bought RevLocal in 2024.
Is there a Hibu lawsuit?
We found no FTC or state attorney general action against Hibu. Don't confuse it with the FTC's 2014 case against "Your Yellow Book Inc.", an unrelated Oklahoma company.
Hibu cost per month: what Hibu pricing looks like
Hibu's cost per month isn't published. Its pricing page says every Hibu One plan is customized to your goals, market and budget, and all three tiers say "Request custom pricing" (Hibu pricing).
What Hibu's terms do publish (hibu.com/legal):
- $299 non-refundable implementation fee for Hibu One
- $199 setup fee for standalone Search, Display or Social campaigns, waived when bought as part of a package
- Managed search budgets from $399 a month, of which Hibu keeps a portion as its management fee. The percentage isn't published
How much does a Hibu website cost?
A Hibu website's cost isn't published either. Websites come inside custom-priced plans, and Hibu's terms give Smart Sites, its website product, a 12-month minimum term.
Vaultio has no setup fee and no minimum term: $449 a month, published on our homepage. That covers your website, unlimited pages, SEO and AI search, a new blog post every day, Google profile management and a live dashboard.
The Hibu contract: minimum terms and auto-renewal
Hibu contract terms "typically range from 6 to 12 months", per its own pricing page. In the terms, Hibu One has a six-month minimum term. Smart Sites, Reviews, Listings Management and Local Ranking each have 12-month minimums. After the minimum term, plans automatically renew month to month.
Hibu's terms also say it may change your pricing at any time after your minimum term ends, with notice.
Hibu cancellation policy: how to cancel a Hibu contract
Hibu's cancellation policy comes down to timing. Its terms say: "If you are within your Minimum Term, you may not cancel the Services until the end of your Minimum Term."
How to cancel Hibu, per its terms
- Call (877) 237-6120, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm Central
- Your request must arrive at least 15 days before your minimum term (or current service month) ends, or the plan runs another month
- Hibu One has no refund or credit on cancellation. Orders placed by phone get a 7-day review period with a full refund
What happens to your domain if you cancel Hibu?
Hibu's Smart Sites terms say the domain name Hibu provides for your website is registered to Hibu. You can ask Hibu to transfer it to your name, and they say they'll help. Finished videos stay owned by Hibu, and your account may be deactivated or deleted after cancellation.
One honest note on ours: a Vaultio site lives on our platform, so it goes offline if you cancel. Your domain, Google Business Profile and reviews are always yours, and there's no minimum term to wait out.
